If you're going to complement someone it needs to be a WHOLE compliment, not half an insult. Even if you don't mean to be insulting by calling someone's writing "weird", and unless they like their writing being called such - which I do not - make your compliment a WHOLE one and not throw in a "but", because you nullify any positivity your comment otherwise had.
This is one of those "30 day" memes but I'm too lazy to do that, so I'm doing this meme all at once.
Day 1 - Favourite Straight Pairing
Byakuya/Yoruichi, oooh, big surprise.
Day 2 - Favourite slash pairing
If we're talking characters who are gay in canon, then Haruka and Michiru from Sailor Moon.
Day 3 - Favourite sapphic/femmeslash pairing
Same as above. I'm not that familiar with other shows that have canon gay couples in it.
Day 4 - Favourite siblings
Ed and Al from FMA. They're too perfect.
Day 5 - Favourite friendships
Saria and Link from Zelda: Oot.
Urahara and Yoruichi from Bleach.
Orihime and Tatsuki from Bleach.
/too many to count.
Day 6 - Favourite parent-child relationships
This is tough, but I'll have to say Ichigo and his mother. The second choice would be Ed and Al's mother.
Day 7 - Favourite rivals
For lolz, I think Tatsuki and Chizuru from Bleach, though it's not technically a rivalry because they're friends.
For seriousness, Link and Ganondorf/Ganondorf's various incarnations. I mean, these two get reincarnated over and over and they've been mortal enemies each time. You can't beat that. (At least Link has been reincarnated, it's suggested Ganondorf/his various incarnations are all the same person).
Day 8 - Favourite partners-in-crime
Urahara and Yoruichi, hands down. They make such awesome partners, whether or not you interpret their relationship as romantic.
Day 9 - Favourite family unit (four or more people)
Kenshin and co. from Rurouni Kenshin has always been my favorite.
Day 10 - Least favorite pairing
There are too many for me to name, and I've answered this about a bazillion times already anyway.
Day 11 - An "OT3" or threesome
Meh, don't have any, it's not my cup of tea.
Day 12 - Favourite Person and Animal Companion Relationship
Usagi and Luna from Sailor Moon.
Day 13 - Your first pairing
Link/Zelda from Ocarina of Time.
Day 14 - Your most recent pairing
Ghirahim/Zelda from Skyward Sword.
Day 15 - Favourite non-canon pairing
ALL of my pairings are non-canon except Byakuya and Hisana, and I guess Gin/Rangiku.
Day 16 - Pairing with the best chemistry
Don't make me choose, I can't. I guess if you're looking for "healthy" chemistry, it'd be Byakuya and Yoruichi, because the chemistry Ghirahim and Zelda (would) have is all kinds of screwy.
Day 17 - Favourite canon pairing
I'm torn between Byakuya/Hisana and Kenshin/Kaoru, because ByaHisa caters to my love for dark and angsty pairings, but Kenshin/Kaoru caters to my love for cuter ones.
Day 18 - Favourite group of friends (four or more people)
As much as I'd love to say Ichigo and his nakama, they fall into the Shonen cliche of friends. So I'll say Kenshin and co, which still has some shonen cliches, but considerably fewer of them.
Day 19 - Favorite band of villains
The Juppon Gatana from RK. The villains actually repent (or, most of them). I'm not a big fan of the Espadas because they're all pretty much the same "badass band of villains" that you see all the time in shonen.
Day 20 - A pairing you like, but don't like what canon did/is doing with them
I can't really say, because almost all of my pairings are so non-canon, canon is literally doing nothing to them. For each person maybe, but not as a whole. In which case, Bleach. Kubo, you break my heart.
Day 21 - A pairing you think gets too little attention
All of my pairings. No exaggeration. But I think Ghirahim/Zelda is the top, because I've literally met only two other GhiraZel fans on the entirety of the internet. Everyone else is crazy over GhiraLink or DemiGhira or for fuck's sake, GhiraDemiLink.
Day 22 - A pairing that a lot of people ship, but you don’t
GhiraLink is so crazily popular I've often compared it to a worldwide epidemic.
Day 23 - An unpopular pairing that you like
Again, all of my pairings. Except maybe GinRan and ByaHisa, while they're not AS popular in Bleach, I wouldn't call them unpopular.
Day 24 - A pairing you think are actually together behind-the-scenes, but it's not confirmed in canon
Ghirahim and Fi I mean oh my god how could you not? They are literally the embodiments of each opposite scale. Fi is a purely benevolent being while Ghirahim is a purely malevolent one. They're literally the only two beings of their kind. Even their character designs complement each other, for fuck's sake. And yet everyone I talk to goes "Nuuu! Ghirahim only likes Link!"
Day 25 - A pairing that you have grown to like but didn't at first
I can't really say. If I dislike a pairing, next to nothing changes my mind.
Day 26 - Favourite childhood pairing
Again, Link/Zelda from Oot.
Day 27 - Pairing you think is the most adorable
I don't really like adorable pairings, but I guess Ichigo/Orihime is adorable enough.
Day 28 - A pairing people would be surprised you like
Probably Haruka/Michiru, as most people have the incorrect assumption that I'm "against" gay pairings, when the opposite is true: I'm for gay pairings as long as the characters are ACTUALLY gay, and none of this "well it's up to interpretation, you can't prove they're straight!" nonsense. If you can't prove they're gay, then they can also be straight, or any other sexuality, so what's the point?
Day 29 - Your favourite of all the relationships you've posted so far
I CAN'T CHOOSE. DON'T MAKE ME CHOOSE :(
Day 30 - Free choice!
Buh I have no idea.
Characters: Ghirahim, Zelda, others
Summary: The pendulum of Time swings back and forth, past and present, back and forth.
A/N: This is an AU, exploring the idea of how Skyward Sword would have been if Ghirahim had succeeded in capturing Zelda in the Earth Temple.
( a dream within a dream )
Not counting my 100-word drabbles as separate fics: 21
Counting my 100-word drabbles as separate fics: 42
I technically started Who By Fire on December of last year, but it hasn't been completed, so I'm counting that one too.
Total Words: 57, 490 (or thereabout, I'm just going by the word count on ff.net)
My favorite story this year: Who By Fire.
My worst story this year: The Butler did it. I just don't like how it turned out.
Story most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: As much as I LOVE the amount of feedback Who By Fire has received thus far, I still admit I'm a little dissatisfied. The amount of feedback I've been getting isn't proportionate to the amount of work I've put in it, but all in all I'm happy, so I can't say it's under-appreciated. In fact, it's probably the most well-received of all my fics, just not in the proportion I think it deserves.
Sexiest Story: Before the sun could rise. There isn't even sex in it, I just think it's sexy as a whole...er, if that makes sense.
Most fun story: I don't write fun stories...but I guess The Butler did it.
"Holy crap, that's *wrong*, even for you" story: Lucid Dreaming. It's noncon in a way that makes you go 'okay is this REALLY noncon or am I just reading it this way...?' I don't write noncon, I don't read noncon, I don't even do dub-con, at all, so that was really new for me. I can't say I liked it either.
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: Who By Fire, for Ghirahim specifically.
Hardest story to write: Who By Fire. I've put a lot of time and effort into it, it's not even funny...in fact, I should probably be paid for the amount of work I've put into it. Besides that, I'd say it's my Korra drabble, Nothing human, because I've never written for Korra before.
Biggest surprise: ....I'm not sure what this question is asking.
A story I want remembered: Who By Fire. Again, lots of work and all that. But I'd love it if all my stories are remembered, really. I can't just choose one.
I'll probably do this meme again in January.
1. Do you remember the first fanfic you ever wrote?
Sorta. I think the first one I wrote was a novelization of Ocarina of Time.
2. What is the latest fanfiction you've written?
Right now, it's "The things he takes."
3. What's the longest fanfic you've written?
Who By Fire, at 14 chapters, 42,342 words. I'm not even halfway done yet.
4. What's the shortest fanfic you've written?
Not counting my 100-word drabbles, it's Luna, at 103 words.
5. Do you notice any common themes in your own fics?
Mostly, I notice a lot of my fics have to do with abandonment, unrequited love, and conflict more than others.
6. How many fics have you written?
I've deleted quite a few of them on ff.net, but now, somewhere around 60. The number is likely much higher.
7. What's your favorite fanfic of yours?
Two of them: Who By Fire and I've Known Rain too Long.
8. What's your least favorite?
My earlier ones. Right now I'm pretty happy with the ones I have.
9. Talk about a story that you wanted to write and never did. (from anat_astarte)
I've wanted to write a Byakuya/Hisana story with the prompt "meet you in a better world" but never got around to it. I've also wanted to write a few with different characters and pairings, but I always fall back on my favorites.
10. Do you listen do music when you write?
Most of the time. Not so much lately because the music I have is starting to bore me.
11. What do you struggle most with when writing fic?
Starting it. From there, it's pretty easy. As for multi-chapter fics, I have a problem when making my chapters seem "eventful" enough. Stuff HAPPENS, but it doesn't seem very eventful.
12. Do you mostly read fic, or do you mostly write it?
I almost exclusively write fic. I've read about..2-3 fics this last month, which is a record for me.
13. Is there something in particular that inspires you to write?
Almost always music and poetry.
I'm going to use it to keep other readers up-to-date about my updates, to answer questions, and to post sneak-peaks at upcoming chapters/oneshots. Mostly, I've made this for those who check this site/my other sites, but aren't friends and therefore can't see certain posts. So, if you're currently on my f-list, my twitter isn't going to be much different than the stuff I post here, however, it would be very nice if you followed me anyway :)
Way to go, hentaifoundry. If there's one way to piss your artists off, it's to take their submissions down and not even have the decency to tell them why.
EDIT: It seems people wanted "stricter quality control" so I guess that means my art is too shitty for hentaifoundry. Just fucking great. How wonderful. This is just what I needed to end my freaking night with.
I swear though, if Bach uses Yama's powers to resurrect the corpses of the Shinigami and one of those is Byakuya...I am legit fucking done. That will just break my heart into a million infinitesimal pieces.
My parents and I are moving into a new house tomorrow, and can't afford the connection fee for our cable and internet right away. So, I'll be without internet for a while. It could be a week, or it could be a month, it just depends. I'll have access to the internet on campus, but it'll be limited.
I guess this will give me time to draw...sigh.
1. Use "and" less.
2. Use "the" less.
3. Basically, use less filler words like the ones mentioned above.
4. Write more characters.
5. Write different themes (I tend to write about love, loss, and unrequited love a lot).
Hmm...that's about it.
I started taking drawing/art seriously when I was around 16, when I got my first tablet. Before then, all I'd done were pencil sketches. So, at 16 I first got a tablet and experimented with digital art. That lasted....about a year, I think, maybe two at most. After I got the tablet, my interest in drawing waned, and I put more focus on graphic art, which required much less drawing and coloring.
This was one of the first drawings I did on a tablet. Oh, the shame.
Then, at around 18, I stopped drawing as much. Eventually, I stopped drawing altogether.
This was one I did shortly before I stopped drawing/coloring.
(Someone online said he looked like a transvestite, wtf?)
After this, I don't remember drawing much aside from some doodles, and my tablet just sat there, collecting dust. I don't remember coloring much during this time, except like...ONE final fantasy fanart. So I didn't draw/color much at all for about 2-3 years.
When I was 20, I discovered Bleach! It got me inspired to start drawing and coloring again, even if I was behind.
When I first finished it, I was really proud of this one.
And this one:
This is one of my most recent ones, 6 years after I got a tablet, but only about 1 year since I've began drawing/coloring more regularly:
So, I guess this post is mostly for myself...I see all this amazing art on sites like here and DA and I often get down on myself, because a lot of those artists have improved in more ways than I have in half the time. Like in this example. It only took this girl 9 years to go from simple pencil drawings to full-on digital masterpieces. I think that if I hadn't taken a break from drawing/coloring, I would be better than I am now...but I can definitely see my improvement, even if I'm not improving QUITE as much as I'd like.
