Anyone have prompts to share? I don't want a specific character or pairing, I just want prompts. A phrase, lyrics, quotes, etc are all welcome :)

Twitter

I have a twitter.

I'm going to use it to keep other readers up-to-date about my updates, to answer questions, and to post sneak-peaks at upcoming chapters/oneshots. Mostly, I've made this for those who check this site/my other sites, but aren't friends and therefore can't see certain posts. So, if you're currently on my f-list, my twitter isn't going to be much different than the stuff I post here, however, it would be very nice if you followed me anyway :)

For some reason unknown to me, hentaifoundry has taken down ALL of my submissions. WTF? They didn't even tell me why! I didn't break any rules, I put the appropriate tags/filters on them, the titles and descriptions were work-safe, what the hell?? It's not just mine, either - it seems about 90% of the Zelda entries were taken down as well. WTF. I'm browsing it now, and it looks like all of the Skyward Sword submissions have been removed.

Way to go, hentaifoundry. If there's one way to piss your artists off, it's to take their submissions down and not even have the decency to tell them why.

EDIT: It seems people wanted "stricter quality control" so I guess that means my art is too shitty for hentaifoundry. Just fucking great. How wonderful. This is just what I needed to end my freaking night with.

My parents and I are moving into a new house tomorrow, and can't afford the connection fee for our cable and internet right away. So, I'll be without internet for a while. It could be a week, or it could be a month, it just depends. I'll have access to the internet on campus, but it'll be limited.

I guess this will give me time to draw...sigh.

Some things I want to improve with my writing:

1. Use "and" less.
2. Use "the" less.
3. Basically, use less filler words like the ones mentioned above.
4. Write more characters.
5. Write different themes (I tend to write about love, loss, and unrequited love a lot).

Hmm...that's about it.

Sometimes I feel like my art just isn't improving. (This isn't a rant, for once!  Read on and rejoice!)

I started taking drawing/art seriously when I was around 16, when I got my first tablet. Before then, all I'd done were pencil sketches. So, at 16 I first got a tablet and experimented with digital art. That lasted....about a year, I think, maybe two at most. After I got the tablet, my interest in drawing waned, and I put more focus on graphic art, which required much less drawing and coloring.

This was one of the first drawings I did on a tablet. Oh, the shame.

1

Then, at around 18, I stopped drawing as much. Eventually, I stopped drawing altogether.

This was one I did shortly before I stopped drawing/coloring.

2
(Someone online said he looked like a transvestite, wtf?)

After this, I don't remember drawing much aside from some doodles, and my tablet just sat there, collecting dust. I don't remember coloring much during this time, except like...ONE final fantasy fanart. So I didn't draw/color much at all for about 2-3 years.

When I was 20, I discovered Bleach! It got me inspired to start drawing and coloring again, even if I was behind.

When I first finished it, I was really proud of this one.

Rangiku

And this one:

Midna
This is one of my most recent ones, 6 years after I got a tablet, but only about 1 year since I've began drawing/coloring more regularly:

zsheik

So, I guess this post is mostly for myself...I see all this amazing art on sites like here and DA and I often get down on myself, because a lot of those artists have improved in more ways than I have in half the time. Like in this example. It only took this girl 9 years to go from simple pencil drawings to full-on digital masterpieces. I think that if I hadn't taken a break from drawing/coloring, I would be better than I am now...but I can definitely see my improvement, even if I'm not improving QUITE as much as I'd like.

OMG

Someone on DA  drew a picture for my fic Who By Fire!

No one has ever drawn fanart for my fics before! That was really nice of them.

My writing muse is absolutely dead.

All I do is read and write, every day after school, every weekend, read and write, read and write. I've mostly been writing essays and reading textbook chapters. Because of this, my inspiration to write fic is absolutely gone. I hate it, it's driving me nuts! I haven't had the inspiration to write a single line of fic since Uni started. Other than the latest chapter of Who By Fire (which was actually about 80% written before Uni started in the first place) I haven't written a single thing. It's almost like....having fanfic constipation, haha, which is the most accurate term I can think of. The urge to write fic is just piling up with nowhere to go. I can't even write a 100-word drabble.

This sucks.

On tumblr

I'm probably going to discontinue my fanart tumblr, and my ask tumblr. My fanart tumblr hardly seems worth it, I get next to zero notes while someone's 30 minute doodle of the same character gets hundreds, and it's not encouraging to me. I have about 30 followers on that one.  I get more favs on DA than likes/reblogs on tumblr. As for the ask blog, the pairing I'm doing it for is really unpopular, so I don't get many asks, and my submissions, again, get hardly any notes. I only have 6 followers on that one. Besides, I don't even browse any tags, and I'm only following one person. Overall, I'm much more content posting my stuff to ff.net, here, and DA. Tumblr really isn't doing anything for me.

1. I've changed my layout! I might edit one or two things.
2. Updated my fanfic index and [livejournal.com profile] writinwaters

(pay attention to these next two)

3.

All entries, excluding fanfic, from this point on, will be put under a spoiler tag instead of an LJ cut. That way, I figure it would be easier for people browsing to read, click, and move on. If they need to comment, they can just click the comment box, instead of going through a link to do so. I'm keeping fics under an LJ tag so you won't miss the comment box =P

4. I might start a fanfic twitter, however: Would anyone even be interested in it? What benefits would it have? I don't think people will be interested in it...but if it gets me even one or two more reviews, I'll do it. Anything for those reviews, and all.

I'm bored as hell. Someone mind giving me a meme or something? I'm so bored I'm contemplating changing my layout/going through old entires and deleting them, even. I'm so bored I'm contemplating packing my stuff for the move next week (my mom finally bought a house!) So bored. I don't even want to write or draw or anything, I'm just bored :/ I'm thinking about getting the collector's pack of the Penumbra games...which are scary as FUCK, and after playing Amnesia: The Dark Descent (done by the same people who made Penumbra) I think I've had enough scary for a lifetime. But still. I'm  thinking about it.

Fic stuff

I really should update my ongoing fic more than once a month.

With oneshots, I never felt pressued to update regularly, because there was no big chance of losing readership. I had nothing to update, for one, no story to continue, and thus no worry that people would lose interest.

It's not so with multi-chapter fics, something I'd forgotten. I have written a few multi-chapter fics before, but that was years ago.

As is, I've only been updating it once a month, when my goal has always been to update twice a month. It would still give me a short break in between chapters, but frequently enough so I don't lose readership. I think that's one reason I'm not getting as much feedback as I'd like. Who knows, maybe it isn't, but it still wouldn't hurt for me to update more than once a month.

With Uni starting, it'll be slightly harder, but I'm only taking 12 credit hours, AND I get 3 days off. I only go to classes Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Another thing I've been worried about is the chapter length. I try to keep it no less than 3,000 words per chapter. It's enough for me to tell the story, but not so long that I dread writing it. I've never been good with writing super long chapters. Whenever I click on a fic with super long chapters, say, 20,000-30,000 words per chapter, I go "eek!" and click away. So I'm hoping that, by keeping my chapters between 3,000-5,000 words, that won't happen. The finale chapters will probably be the longest, though.

Meh. Nothing going on for me. I can't wait for classes to start.

Yay!

My fanfiction Who By Fire almost has 100 reviews! I've never had that many before. Right now it has 93, so I only need seven more. I'm hoping to have 100 before I put up the next chapter, but if not, 100 by chapter 14 would be good too. I realize 100 reviews for 14 chapters isn't that much compared to some other fics I've seen, but all the reviews are really nice and thoughtful, instead of stupid one liners like "update soon plz!" I think I've only had one or two of those, which is really impressive to me since, well, it's ff.net.

I don't think I've ever put so much effort into a single fic before. Seriously, I advertize it almost everywhere I go, I even drew a fan comic for it to try and boost readership, (which doesn't seem to have worked...) and this is the first fic I've ever wanted a beta for. So it would just be nice to see some of that effort get some more attention, I guess.

I'm trying my damndest to get more readers/reviews on ff.net. I have links to my ff.net page at almost every site I'm on. Even though ff.net is such a large site, getting more readership is still a challenge, especially considering the pairings I write. I don't write yaoi and I don't write "popular" het pairs either, so it seems I have to try three times as hard for half the recognition. Still, the recognition I do get is wonderful, and I'd rather have a few good reviews than tons of pointless one-liners.

Only seven more! EEEEE.

I stumbled on this fic today.

Looked up to see how many reviews it has.

4,392.

Four-thousand, three-hundred and ninety-two.

At 42 chapters, that's an average of 103 reviews per chapter.

I'm just sitting here with my mouth open. How is this even possible. Holy shit. Wow, the author of that fic must have been SO PROUD, too! I'd be! Hell I'm happy with the 79 reviews my story has, I can't even imagine getting over four thousand!

Anyone else stumble on fics like this?

Here's a list of all the quotes currently in my collection. I write them down in a green notebook, and I try to add at least one a day. (But I don't always succeed in that).

Some of them are from Criminal Minds.

I know only like, one of you on my f-list has heard of Zelda, but I need some help:

I'd really like some new songs for inspiration, because it seems I'm listening to the same ones over and over, and once you do that, the song gets old and you lose whatever inspiration it originally gave you.

I'm having this problem with "Who by fire." Whenever I get stuck or need ideas, I usually listen to music, but I've used the same songs as inspiration for this fic, and I need some new ones.

Here's a quick run-down of what I'm looking for:

Any song that relates to these themes is fine:

Death, betrayal, friendship, tragedy, bravery, conflict, unstable relationships, onesided love....to name only a few

Any song that conveys any of these emotions is fine:

Sadness/hurt, anger, love or affection, jealousy, fear

It would be better if the songs were soft, mellow, and easy to listen to, I'm not looking for rock or rap. I find that songs with lyrics are sometimes more inspirational, but not always.

To give you an idea, here is a quick list of songs I already listen to a lot:

1. Civilian
2. Who By Fire
3. Hellfire (Hunchback of Notre Dame soundtrack)
4. Bells of Notre Dame (Hunchback of Notre Dame soundtrack)
5. And He Shall Smite The Wicked (Hunchback of Notre Dame soundtrack)
6. Boadicea
7. Fi's farewell (Skyward Sword soundtrack)
8. Ghirahim battle theme 3 (Skyward Sword soundtrack)
9. Legend of Skyloft (Skyward Sword soundtrack)
10. Into dust
11. Nocturne in E minor
12. Princess Zelda's theme (Skyward Sword soundtrack)
13. A slow parade

Any suggestions at all are welcome :)
