I love snarky Byakuya. Kubo needs to do that more often. I'm glad to FINALLY see a little Byakuya introspective, we never really see this side of him, not even in his fight against the Espada.  But the fact that even HE'S afraid makes me worry.

I legitimately screamed when that panel of smiling!Rukia turned into a skeleton. Holy shit. Kubo's really mindfucking with Byakuya in this chapter. And the bugs. Gah.

I'm worried now. If Byakuya dies, oh my god, you have no idea. I probably won't read Bleach anymore. Not even to see what happens to everyone else. Byakuya has been my favorite since I got into Bleach. I've connected with his character since the Rescue Arc. I keep holding onto the idea that since he's such a popular character, Kubo would never kill him off, because he'd lose too much of the fanbase, but now I'm not so sure.

Oh my God this chapter...! It was awesome and terrifying and I loved it and I'm worried for Byakuya!

I love seeing this side of Byakuya. He's so enigmatic most of the time that these little slivers of insight just make him more interesting (captivating?). I definately don't want to see him killled off, but.....if he is then I wonder if it would be some bittersweet send off where he might get to reunite with Hisana in the next life? *sniffle*

This was a fantastic move on Kubo's part. So wicked that it's perfect! As someone said in the comm, the destruction of Rukia's face has so much symbolism that it's very fitting as a fear for someone who does "see" her (edit: the commenter's parallels to Hisana's wasting away death is also worth noting!).

Yeah, same here. I didn't even start reading the actual manga until his new look and all the talk about him expressing more emotion. I actually went all the back to the January issues to check out what's been going on, since the anime is so slow about it.

If Byakuya does die, I wonder if Renji would become the next captain and how it would affect Rukia's standing with the Kuchiki clan...
